Do you believe every human being has a unique gift to share with the world? Are you willing to take care of someone else and let that person touch your heart and change your life?
If yes, then this opening may be for you. L’Arche Ireland and Northern Ireland is looking for live-in assistants to join their four communities.
Join As Volunteers live in Assistant
L’Arche Communities here in Ireland as in many countries, L’Arche was founded and run by volunteers. Now there is a mix oof paid staff and volunteers. Volunteers come from around the globe and around the corner to share a year, or longer, living in our Community homes with core members. They bring their own unique personality, culture and vibrancy to our homes. Through living together, volunteers learn the value and contribution that the core members bring to the world. They gain an understanding about the need for a sense of belonging and connectedness that we as human beings all share.
As a Volunteer Live-In Assistant you will provide support to our core members alongside other volunteers and staff; assisting them with personal care, housekeeping, cooking and nurturing a spirit of welcome and celebration in the house.
Volunteers receive food, accommodation (own room), holiday time and a personal allowance, orientation on arrival, training, supervision and are supported and mentored throughout their stay.
Volunteers are offered a minimum of five training sessions throughout the year to improve their skills in areas such as First Aid, Fire Safety, Nutrition, Food Safety, and Infection Prevention & Control. Previous volunteers maintain that the training, day to day work, guidance from our long term team, their interactions with core members and overall experience, greatly supports them in their professional development and in their personal life. Our Volunteers are as unique as our core members and come with a broad range skills and from diverse backgrounds.
There is a lot to be gained from this volunteering role; what we offer at L’Arche is an exceptional and life changing adventure in friendship, self-discovery, and belief.
In return for the gifts you’ll bring, you will discover a very simple and honest joy in the relationships you build with other people, both with and without intellectual disabilities. That is what makes L’Arche so unique.
We encourage applications from everyone irrespective of religion, faith, ability, gender, ethnicity, age; everyone is considered an equal. We promote inclusion, equality, fairness, diversity and solidarity.
